Ferraris, Astons, Porsches… You can forget anything you’ve ever driven. Nothing can match the experience an Aventador offers. It’s an event in and of itself, an entity unlike any other. Big, flagship Lamborghinis have always been incredibly fast and gorgeous to look at, but most of the Aventador’s predecessors were notoriously difficult to drive. The Aventador truly is the first big Lambo anyone can get accustomed to. It’s got all of the theater and the passion but without any of the drawbacks. It is, for all intents and purposes, the perfect super car. Or hyper car, depending on what you want to call it.
Beauty is subjective, but there’s no denying the Aventador’s menacing presence. It’s so aggressive and purposeful you can’t help but stare at it. People on the street stop what they’re doing just to catch a glimpse of the big Lambo. Seeing that happen in person for the first time is rather amazing. Nothing, and we do mean nothing, can turn heads the way the Aventador does. From certain angles it even looks alien, like it doesn’t belong on this planet. It’s wide, it’s low, and it’s just plain gorgeous. If ever there was the perfect definition of what a super car should look like, look no further.

Then of course, we get to the engine. The car’s crowning jewel. The 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 produces a staggering 740 horsepower. That’s more than any other Lamborghini before, more than the legendary McLaren F1 even. The performance on offer, as you might expect, is simply mind-boggling. The sprint to 62 mph is dealt with in just 2.9 seconds, not because the car lacks the power to go faster, but because physics limit the force of acceleration. The top speed is well north of 220 mph, but Sport Auto magazine has gotten an example up to 230 mph. To say that it’s fast then, would be an understatement.

As is always the case with Lamborghinis however, acceleration and outright speed are merely byproducts from a unique experience unlike any other. Driving an Aventador is all about the drama and the theatre. The large V12 howling behind you, people turning their heads to check the car out, kids smiling at the sight of one… you have to experience to know. Words can’t put into context the range of emotions and feelings you get when behind the wheel of one. It’s a great car to drive for the sheer joy of driving alone, but perhaps the best one if you’re after the single most unique car experience any vehicle can offer you.
